New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Electric Guest have shared the first song from their long-awaited new album, due in early 2017. The track "Dear To Me" - self-produced and recorded in LA - layers up earworms galore, vintage 70's and 80's synthesizers, and backing vocals by the Haim sisters, resulting in what the Fader calls "a good wintertime jam, with lots of cooing and dreamy synths". Electric Guest frontman Asa Taccone says of the track:
This is possibly my favorite song from our new album. It came from the heart. Matthew (my bandmate) had a job at this studio in LA that had all of these old synthesizers from the 70s and 80s lying around. I came in one afternoon for just a few hours and we played around with as many of the instruments as we could, then recorded most of the rest of the song in my bedroom. One of the Haim girls lives down the street from me, so one day all three sisters came over with some other friends of mine and after hanging out for a few hours we went into my little studio and recorded the chorus vocals. I recorded them on one mic. It's easy with them because they're been singing together for years so they blend super well.
The duo will also perform a set of new music tonight at an intimate hometown gig at LA's Monty Bar.
Electric Guest's 2012 debut 'Mondo' - produced by Danger Mouse - praised by Rolling Stone as a "a Beck-ian journey full of hooky neon jams," and landed them performances on Conan, Letterman and Fallon, and songs featured on 'Girls', 'Suits', 'Teen Wolf' + more. More info on the new record coming shortly.
