Straight out of a cabin in the backwoods of South Alabama, Jimmy Lumpkin belts out sublime sounds that are altogether Country, Rock, Soul and Blues. On February 10th, Jimmy Lumpkin will release his debut album Home on Skate Mountain Records. The thundering single "My Name is Love" first debuted with Elmore Magazine. Lumpkin delivers "...a fresh brand of rock and soul that rivals the best of the genre," writes Elmore, "with an authenticity that only a little bit of backwoods upbringing can offer."
Jimmy Lumpkin is a singer, songwriter and guitarist with an intoxicating voice and a stirring, soulful bend to his own brand of music. With the voice of a 100-year-old angel from the delta, the soul found in Jimmy's music is like no other. Fronting an ace collection local players, he leads the band known as Jimmy Lumpkin and the Revival.
Rounding out the Revival lineup on the road are bassist Quintin Berry, guitarist Morris Barosa, and drummer Chris Ozuna. Lumpkin indicates that the band name represents their musical mission: "We want to lift people's spirits. When we leave the show, we want to leave people like we've lifted their spirits. For me, that's a very important part of music."
For Jimmy Lumpkin and the Revival, the album title Home represents more than just the secluded cabin in the swamps of southern
Alabama where the new music was written.
"We use the word 'home' all the time and it means so many different things to so many people. But when I write these songs, I want to live in the songs," says Lumpkin, who grew up in Savannah, Georgia, but now lives in the marshlands near Mobile, Alabama. "As somebody who's here in Alabama, there's probably not a week that goes by where we don't remember our roots -- where we come from musically, and we share that sense of pride that all these great musicians made music in our home state," he says.
