New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Lucky Losers, Cathy Lemons and Phil Berkowitz, hit 2015 running, as their album "A Winning Hand" hit the streets, the stations, and the charts. They toured from California to Florida and covered 7 thousand miles together, band in tow, believing in a crazy dream. Then as soon as they got home they bet everything a second time. Once again they were going to go for it and made a second album this one titled, "In Any Town," at Kid Andersen's Greaseland Studios. Now, with their 2016 release, the duo is making yet another run for the money and is about to hit 11 states and travel 10 thousand miles across
America in 2017. Be sure to follow them on Facebook as Cathy documents the trip for her readers.
Their first release "A Winning Hand" was a huge success. It reached #5 on the
Roots Music Report's "Top 50 Blues Albums" and also made RMR's "Top Blues Albums for The Year of 2015." It was nominated for a Blues411 Jimi Award for "Best Traditional Blues Album." Major music reviewers such as Bill Kopp of Rolling Stone to Lee Hildebrand at Living Blues Magazine gave Cathy and Phil a thumbs up. Now "In Any Town" is following suit reaching #6 on Living Blues, #2 on
Roots Music Report "Top Albums/CA" (all genres), and again made the "Top 10" list in blues. Critics from all over the world responded from Spain, France, Italy, Australia, England, and more. Living Blues gave the album a 5 star review.
The thing about Cathy and Phil is that they love music, and they are songwriters who explore themes unique to the American experience. When performing they love to include classic covers like "Jackson" and fans of the song go crazy for it. Upon release of "In Any Town" people from all over kept telling them that they deliver roots music. Soon an interest in this new genre called "
Americana" caught their eye. So now they are doing two things - submitting "In Any Town" to Americana radio stations and including Americana clubs and festivals on their tour radar.
