DJ Shadow Premieres An Otherworldly Video For "Bergschrund" Via NPR First Watch
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) DJ Shadow has unveiled a new visual for his Nils Frahm-assisted single "Bergschrund." The video, centered on a supernatural abduction gone wrong, premiered today as a First Watch on NPR Music. "Bergschrund" was directed by Matt Devine and stars Matthew Sunderland as an unsuspecting target of otherworldly activity. The video was produced by Somesuch and Revolver. "Bergschrund" comes from DJ Shadow's latest record, 'The Mountain Will Fall,' which was released earlier this year on Mass Appeal Records.

"Bergschrund" is available now through NPR Music: https://n.pr/2hOb8NY
Says director Matt Devine: "To me the track has a really cinematic and also science fiction tone to it. I wanted to make a film that really worked with this visually but also had a humor to it. It is also my favorite track from the album so I was honored to be asked to make something for it."

Says DJ Shadow: "Nils Frahm is an insanely smart composer. He created a sinewy, gated vintage synth line which I then expanded upon, hopefully to complimentary effect. Bergschrund is an obscure German word for a particular type of crevasse, or ice cliff, usually found on mountains at very high elevations."

DJ Shadow has been relentlessly touring in support of 'The Mountain Will Fall' this year. He recently concluded a sold-out US tour as covered by the New Yorker, Brooklyn Vegan and beyond, with plenty of European festival stops along the way including Pitchfork Paris, Club to Club in Turin and The Warehouse Project in Manchester. He plans to continue to tour in 2017, stay tuned for updates.

Raves for 'The Mountain Will Fall':
"He continues to produce challenging work and refuses to repeat himself…mixing thumping, old school hip hop tracks with atmospheric instrumentals that skitter and slither in the shadows" - Chicago Tribune

"Impressive in its inventiveness" - The Guardian
"Rolling and meditative" - Vice Noisey
"Brassy and bruising" - Rolling Stone
"An album that bridges eras to envision what the future may hold" - Boston Globe
"This is DJ Shadow's best work since his early-aughts heyday. Whatever difficult terrain he had to scale to wrangle this mountain was worth the trip, and suggests even greater ascents in the future" - AV Club
