New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Varese Sarabande will release a double-CD soundtrack for the first two seasons of the hit Amazon series THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE on February 24, 2017. The individual season soundtracks will be available for one month, exclusively on Amazon.com. The first season soundtrack composed by
Henry Jackman (WRECK-IT-RALPH, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR) and Dominic Lewis (MONEY MONSTER, FREE BIRDS, THE DUFF) will be available digitally on Amazon.com beginning January 13, 2017, and through major platforms one month later. A digital version of the Season 2 soundtrack, composed by Lewis, was released on Amazon.com, on December 30th, and will be available through all major platforms one month later.
Based on Philip K. Dick's award-winning novel, and executive produced by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner), and Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files), THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE explores what it would be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States.
"In Season 1, I had to be very controlled and restrained, emulating the struggle of our protagonists journey," Lewis described. "My ensemble was a lot smaller and the music was a lot more minimal, stretched over long scenes. I had to follow the intimate nature of the protagonist's journey."
"In Season 2 the stakes were a lot bigger so I had to be broader and cover a larger scope with music. I used the full forces of the orchestra a lot more," explained Lewis. After giving Joe the film, Juliana is forced to flee the fury of the Resistance while embarking on a new path to save her home from destruction. Joe confronts his absent father in Berlin, who is not as he seems. Smith wrestles with what to do about his ill son. Frank takes a gamble with his life in a bid to save Ed. Tagomi's life is turned upside down by his "travel" to an alternative world. "The Season 2 soundtrack is an evolution of Season 1, pushing the themes in different directions, broadening the palette and really letting loose with the orchestra at times."
British-born composer Dominic Lewis' sensational talents have capitulated him to the forefront of music in television and film. Most recently, Dominic scored seasons one and two of Amazon's critically acclaimed series THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, produced by Ridley Scott and starring Alexa Davalos and Rupert Evans—within a month of its release, the show became Amazon's most popular series ever. Upcoming for Lewis is Warner Brothers
Pictures and New Line Cinema's comedy FIST FIGHT starring Ice Cube, Charlie Day and Tracy Morgan, which is set to release nationwide on February 17th.
Beyond his success in television, Dominic composed a variety of feature films. Earlier this year Dominic scored Sony's riveting hostage drama, MONEY MONSTER, starring
George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Dominic received an
Annie Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in
Music for his work on FREE BIRDS, starring Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Amy Poehler. His innate instinct for harmonizing music and picture has been recognized as he was nominated for the World
Soundtrack Award's Discovery of the Year for his work on SPOOKS: THE GREATER GOOD, starring Kit Harington and
Peter Firth. Dominic also scored THE DUFF, starring Mae Whitman and Bella Thorne and OPEN SEASON: SCARED SILLY.
Prior to his successful career as a composer, Dominic studied at the Royal Academy of
Music in London, where he received classical training in cello and music composition. Throughout his time at the Royal Academy, he was mentored by Rupert Gregson-Williams and was given the opportunity to co-compose the score for his first feature film, THE POET, directed by
Damien Lee. Dominic also drew on his strong orchestral background to orchestrate and arrange two classical albums, Camilly Kerslake and The Priests, and wrote the album for the Lily May Show.
Following his move from England to the United States, he joined John Powell, composing for the 2011 Oscar Nominated film, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON. He has since worked with some of Hollywood's most renowned composers including
Henry Jackman and Hans Zimmer. His additional music credits include GULLIVER'S TRAVELS, CLASH OF THE TITANS, Rango, Rio, Kung Fu
Panda 2, Puss in Boots, Man on a Ledge, Wreck-It Ralph, Red Dawn, X-Men: 1st Class, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, G.I. Joe: Retaliation,
