New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The new single Strangers by Backgammon shows once again how strong the indie rockers from The Netherlands are.
Heavy guitars which also sound modest, two-part vocals of brothers Thijs and Pim van der Meulen plus a nice arch of tension.
Strangers is taken from the debut album Backgammon which was released last week. Produced by Martijn Groeneveld (John Coffey, Dotan, Lucky Fonz III), on Backgammon everything falls in place what makes the band so special. Previously released singles Gun In the Yard, Oh Yeah! and Through The Back Of My Head can be heard in between brand new tracks that show their progress in songwriting. Furthermore Backgammon now consists of five bandmembers which gives them the opportunity to bring the full sound to live performances as well. With the album Backgammon the band is on the eve of their big breakthrough
Backgammon was the 2013 winner of the Dutch Student Band Festival, in 2014 they were elected Best Dutch Newcomer on Dutch national radio and in 2015 they were runner up at the famous Dutch competition 'de Grote Prijs van Nederland'. For the last year they have toured extensively in The Netherlands, UK and Belgium and were featured on many festivals.
Their previous singles did very well in the Dutch Indie Chart and were featured in the Spotify New
Music Friday playlist NL. Backgammon gave live performances on Dutch national radio, as well as a Sofar
Sounds session for Youtube. They got international airplay from Germany and the UK to the United States.
