Spooks delivers with an impressive new EP that captures the emotions and battles of a character who finds themselves increasingly engrossed by their own passions.
The 6 track project is a fusing of sounds which shows Spooks' ability to vocalise his inner thoughts and express them through this very fresh and alluring, 808 inspired body of work.
For production duties he enlists Maschine Man Tim who has recently got himself a huge credit, producing the outro on the brand new
Nines album. Tim lends his expertise in the production of both This Side and Morning Love, whilst Birmingham's young producer SPK flexes with the powerful song FDM
Channelling the emotions concerning love, melancholy and self awareness, this project dropped on Valentines Day and sees the East Londoner project some of the struggles faced, as an emerging rapper whilst attempting to sustain what appears as a toxic relationship.
The project is intertwined with a malicious narrative in the form of a disgruntled girlfriend who vents her frustrations at Marcello's attention being paid to his music career, at her expense...
"The girl represents all the people in your life that doubt you, the people that you might have thought you were the closest to you. I composed this mixtape during a time where I felt certain people in my life claimed they wanted the best for me but in reality, they were looking out for themselves."
