New York, NY (Top40 Charts) LA-based electronic band The Anix, a group founded by former touring guitarist for Apoptygma Berzerk, Brandon Smith, will release their second album for Cleopatra Records on March 31. Ephemeral marks a significant departure for the band, veering closer to a fully electronic EDM sound than ever before while still writing powerful, melodic, rock-oriented songs. The band's previous album Sleepwalker (released in 2011) proved to be a major hit among critics and the video game community, even landing one of their songs in a major publicity campaign for the DC Universe MMORPG.
Ephemeral also features 2 special remixes for the first single " Sideways" created by Switzerland producer Several Definitions. The release of Ephemeral will be accompanied by a truly awe-inspiring music video for the single "Mask." Directed by Ukranian born photographer/filmmaker Ruslan Pelykh, the video creates haunting images using both the sprawl of urban landscapes and expansive coastal settings, which are then interrupted by glitchy special effects suggesting an "unmasking" of reality itself. On a more personal level, the song urges resistance to social conformity, setting aside our masks and allowing our true selves to come through.
