New York, NY (Top40 Charts) After recently supporting their hotly-tipped Scots comrades in Vukovi, Glaswegian alt-rockers Donnie
Willow are extremely pleased to announce the release of their new EP Exhibition on 9th June 2017 via Sunbird Records.
Commenting on the signing, the band said: "We have been working closely with the Sunbird team for the past 6 months or so, they have treated us like one of their own each time we've been down to play at their venue and we are delighted to now officially call them part of the Donnie
Willow family. It's just a big group of friends making and releasing music and we couldn't be more excited about it!"
To celebrate the news, the band are sharing a brand new song 'Blessed Company' in full - listen and share here: https://soundcloud.com/donniewillow/blessed-company
"It's a lot heavier than some of the other stuff we've done," says frontman Arthur Piddington about the new track "but it's such a fun song to play live and has been received very well at shows. Vocally, I made a conscious decision to push myself and showcase an improvement from the last record.
"At the time of writing it, my head was a mess. I had so many things that I wanted to vent through the lyrics that it became a culmination of topics rather than just being about one thing. I also tortured myself with rewriting it so many times that I ended up totally doubting its worth. But I am super happy with how it turned out, Bruce (Rintoul) did a great job with the production, it's exactly how we imagined it."
Citing the likes of Reuben, Glassjaw, Deftones, Arcane Roots, Basement, Tubelord and TTNG as influences, it's immediately clear from their new material that Donnie
Willow have every intention of being every bit as vital as the bands they idolise.
Meshing the heaviest of riffs with a penchant for interesting time signatures, intricate guitar lines and interwoven vocal harmonies that power forth into expansive, unforgettable choruses, the enormous production on the new record courtesy of producer Bruce Rintoul (Twin Atlantic, Fatherson, Vukovi) and mastered by Ed Woods (Reuben, Twin Atlantic, The Xcerts, Manic Street Preachers) makes 'Blessed Company' a staggering introduction to their latest offering.
The band have been dominating local music scenes around the UK for the past few years with their attention grabbing live performances and fresh approach to song writing, building their widespread fan-base throughout the underground since forming in 2013, sharing the stage with the likes of Fatherson,
Don Broco and
Black Peaks with notable support from Rock Sound, Kerrang! and the BBC
Radio One Rock Show.
Their critically acclaimed 2016 release Inhale, Exhale was the first marker of a band that clearly had the chops to compete with the best of their contemporaries, and the new record marks another bar raised for the trio. Beefier, bolder and even more experimental, this first glimpse of Exhibition promises even bigger things on the horizon for this young band
Further details of Exhibition + UK tour dates TBA over the coming weeks.
