Out Now: Mimo, "Like That" (System Recordings)
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The New York Times recently published a music critics' piece titled, "How Do You Solve A Problem Like The Chainsmokers?" The answer may well be, "Throw MIMO's 'Like That' on the turntables and turn up the volume."

Sexy. Charismatic. Enduring. Those words can as easily be used to describe the persona of house music DJ and producer, MIMO, as they can be to depict his music. MIMO's "Like That" (System Recordings) is out now.

The Original Mix of "Like That" is a pure, unadulterated progressive-house tune with an elevating throwback vibe. At a time when electronic dance music (EDM) has saturated pop culture to the point of being disposable, MIMO's music has staying power with its unabashed deep-house excellence. "Like That" is a groovy tune with a satisfyingly generous intro that goes into a seductive, liquid 4/4 beat at the 1:04 mark. Stoking anticipation in listeners, MIMO triggers an almost carnal longing for the dancefloor with his rich, soulful vocals. "Like That" is an utterly feel good piece of music, so warm and welcoming is its embrace. The drive of MIMO's sound lends itself well to the throbbing, pulsing groove of "Like That" and the effort reminds music-lovers what house music is really about. This track is all heart and humanity, sincerity and substance, perhaps the complete opposite of what's charting on Billboard and Beatport right now. The New York Times recently published a music critics' piece titled, "How Do You Solve A Problem Like The Chainsmokers?" The answer may well be, "Throw MIMO's 'Like That' on the turntables and turn up the volume."

Based outside Cleveland, Ohio, MIMO (real name: Dominic Spitalieri) is an American dance music DJ and producer specializing in house music. MIMO's original productions have won the support of global touring DJs/producers, including: Gareth Emery, Chuckie, Breathe Carolina, Shane 54, Shanahan, BRKYLN and others. MIMO was awarded "Best DJ" accolades for local Cleveland-based DJ/producers by Cleveland Scene magazine in 2016 and 2014. MIMO's debut album, Generation, was released in 2015 and the effort shot to #12 on the iTunes "Top 200" electronic albums worldwide shortly after its release. That album was quickly followed by an EP titled, Impulse, which rocketed to the #5 position on Beatport's "Top 100" new releases in progressive house and #16 overall in the summer of 2015. In early-2016, MIMO released his EP, The Year, which exploded at #2 on Beatport's "Top 100" new releases in progressive house chart and peaked at #10 overall by summer 2016. As a live DJ, MIMO has performed in front of thrilled crowds at festivals including "Life In Color," and he has been direct support for The Chainsmokers, Alesso, Steve Aoki, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Krewella, Sander van Doorn, Paul Oakenfold, Carnage and others. Trained as a musician and frequently playing piano and guitar on his own and others' recordings, MIMO is a versatile artist. He is also adept at composing soul and jazz music and these influences dovetail together. Thoroughly well-versed in studio production and with a preference for Ableton Live, MIMO learned production from Dubspot Academy in New York and Los Angeles. MIMO's feel good sound translates well to radio and he's DJ'd live takeovers on DASH Radio in Hollywood and had hits like "Gold" aired on Cleveland's 96.5 "KISS-FM" Radio. "Gold" also became an anthem for the Cleveland professional sports teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA), Cleveland Browns (NFL) and the Cleveland Indians (MLB). The stage name MIMO derives from Spitalieri's Italian heritage - his lineage harks from Sicily - "mimo" roughly translating to mean "little Dom" in Italian, a term of endearment. It's an intrinsic sense of love and family that MIMO strives to convey through his music.
