The Rick Ray Band Releases New Album "Killing Time"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Six years of what seemed to be endless roadblocks were preventing this album from coming to life. I really could write a book on what prevented this from happening and it would be a great read. Mutiny, the FBI, insanely intense surgery, musicians having to leave and on and on and on. Once one roadblock seemed to be cleared another would pop up almost instantly and it seemed like it would never stop. Rick Schultz, Al LeDonne and myself finally discussed the situation and said, "that's it, no more waiting, let's set up the microphones and jam". Due to an on going road block I ended up playing bass on the album. After the album was recorded we hooked up with bassist extraordinaire Dave "Shaggy" Snodgrass to handle the live end of things.

This CD, if released on vinyl would be a double album. A lot of songs were left off of this album and some were a very hard decision to do so. In that six years I have recorded demos for about 3 or 4 more albums besides the songs we left off. There is "never" a shortage of material. I am always writing music and lyrics.

This is our 33rd album. After waiting and hoping during that six year period for this to happen it was recorded in about 33 hours in the Neurosis Recording Lab. Then a few marathon mixing sessions and a few marathon mastering sessions, I put the artwork together and it was "finally" completed. Feels like a weight was lifted off my shoulders.

We had a great time recording this one. Did some experimenting with a lot of the songs, sounds and performances. This album, if recorded six years ago, would have been a lot different. Looking back, I am glad for the wait because the evolution this album went through to get to the final version that you have in your hands is a lot better album than it would have been.
