Lightwave Empire Reimagine Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra On New Single "I Need You Sundown"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Copenhagen's Lightwave Empire have released their latest single "I Need You Sundown," a complete re-imagining of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's 1968 duet "Sundown, Sundown."

"I Need You Sundown" is the first track from their upcoming album. The album is due later this year from Big Deal Media, who are known for their work with St. Vincent, Beach House, Sylvan Esso and My Morning Jacket.

"To me, the song is all about wanting to feel good," says frontman Bjarke Niemann. "Whatever gets you there really. The sundown is a great tranquilizer for us when it feels like things are spinning out of control. Don't you find comfort on the beach at sundown, dazzled by the long shadows and crashing waves, knowing that you're a part of a huge and unbreakable system?"

Bjarke heard the original song from a random playlist while he was unpacking his studio. Inspired, he quickly re-envisioned it, and with the help of D. Sardy, multiple Grammy Award-winning producer (Oasis, Soulwax, LCD Soundsystem, Wolfmother) and composer for several hit films, including 21 and Zombieland, they composed the arrangement. He then recruited legendary drummer Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) to play on it and finished it in a few days.

"Lightwave Empire are masters of the synth/vapor wave you thought you knew," says Sardy. "The songs give you the feeling of a drive to the beach on a hot cloudy day... you know its only a matter of time till the sun comes out."

Lightwave Empire made their live debut before thousands at the 2016 Roskilde Festival, followed shortly by the Noisey premiere of their provocative and uncensored NSFW video, "Pleasure and Pain."

Bjarke Niemann has composed music for both film and video games, including the popular Hitman series. He won a Danish Grammy in 2013 with his band Spleen United.
