groove master, producer Josh One has just released his debut
CD/DVD-Audio DualDisc on Myutopia Recordings, an imprint of Silverline
Records. Josh One has always been at the helm of new technology and
will lead the way with Narrow Path on DualDisc. Fans will surely relish
this album as one side is a CD and the other side is a DVD-Audio disc
complete with 5.1 surround sound mixes of the entire album, visuals,
bonus video content, and more.
Josh One has become a recognized
name amongst tastemaker DJs and music lovers around the globe. His
first commercial remix was for "Po' Folks," a song that went Platinum
for Nappy Roots and Atlantic Records. The King Britt remix of Josh
One's hit single "Contemplation" vaulted to the top of the UK and
European DJ charts and became a bona fide house anthem, a staple at
dance clubs around the world. Everyone from Masters at Work to Danny
Tenaglia played it to packed dancefloors, UK magazine The Face named
the single one of 2002's tunes of the year, and the track has since
appeared on numerous DJ charts, mix CDs, and compilations worldwide.
On
the heels of "Contemplation's" fire, Josh headed back into the studio
to collaborate with underground favorite MCs Aloe Blacc and Mikah 9 as
well as drummer Marshall Goodman (Sublime), trumpet player Printz Board
(Black Eyed Peas), and bassist Caleb Speir (Nikka Costa, Macy Gray), to
name a few (some collaborator mini-bios below). Narrow Path showcases
Josh One's talents as an artist and producer in his own right and is
sure to make an impression in the new DualDisc format.
Tracks on
Narrow Path showcase Josh One's versatility as a producer. "Risin" is a
downtempo groover with Aloe Blacc. "Day Dreamer" is a sexy track with
vocal by Lila De La Mora. "Miss Me" features Deana Deadly on a bluesy
vocal. "Endless" with A Poet Named Life is an intense track about the
nature of time's passage. "Grey Skies" is a pure jazz track with a hip
hop vibe that was recently heard on an episode of "CSI:New York".
"Contemplation," Josh One's 'hit' is here too, in its original form.
"Less Traveled," is a true hip hop throw down with Rashaan Ahmad
MCing. "Midnight Samba" is an R&B party track with a jazzy samba
vibe featuring Kandance Lindsey on vocals. "After Hours" is hot track
celebrating the nightlife. Finally "Narrow Path" loops a rock guitar
into some grooves for a fitting album closer.
DualDisc provides
the ultimate in music value and flexibility, it's a CD on one side and
a DVD-Audio disc on the other side. Just flip it over and you can play
your DualDiscs in your car system, home theater system, or any device
