NASHVILLE, TN. (www.inorecords.com) - MercyMe's Bart Millard and producer Pete Kipley have recently announced the formation of
Simple Records, an imprint through INO Records, who will be responsible for all marketing and radio promotion.
As the first band to sign with Simple Records, The Afters are ready to release their national debut project, I Wish We All Could Win. The CD follows their highly acclaimed independent project, When the World is Wonderful, which sold more than 25,000 units under their former name Blisse. I Wish We All Could Win will be in stores February 22, and will be distributed by Provident Integrity Distribution and to the general market through Epic Records.
'I have always dreamed of not only being a part of the music industry, but making a difference,' Millard states. 'Simple Records is a part of that dream. As a band, The Afters represent everything we desire to be about as a label. It's not so much about The Afters needing our industry, but our industry needing more bands like The Afters.'
I Wish We All Could Win, a 10 song project produced by Brown Bannister and Dan Muckala, balances muscular power chords with soaring melodies and simple acoustic moments with majestic orchestration to create an epic soundscape.
The first radio single, 'You,' is currently going for adds at Rock and CHR. Describing the chiming single, vocalist for The Afters Josh Havens said, 'We should not find our identity in things of the world, but rather in Christ. In difficult times, we can feel safe and secure knowing that our lives are in the hands of the very One who created us. And His love for us is greater then our minds will ever comprehend.'
Along with hitting Christian radio waves, mainstream partner Epic Records will be releasing the single 'Beautiful Love' to Modern Rock February 8 and to Adult Top 40 on March 8. In addition, the band will be taping a music video in Los Angeles with director, Steven Murashige (Ataris "Boys of Summer" and Incubus "Pardon Me"). 'Beautiful Love,' was written while Haven's wife was in Mexico on a humanitarian trip building homes for individuals living in shanties.
'I was back in Dallas strumming on a guitar thinking about how people say 'love can change the world.' It's usually a cliché, but my wife was living out that ideal,' Havens said. 'That night I wrote 'Beautiful Love' for her and all the magical things that can come from love.'
Formed while working at Starbucks in Mesquite, TX, The Afters are composed of Josh Havens on vocals, keys, and guitar, Brad Wigg on bass and vocals, Marc Dodd on drums, and Matt Fuqua on guitars and vocals.
The Afters can be seen nationwide on the Spring 2005 Undone Tour featuring platinum selling artist MercyMe, 2004 Male Artist of the Year Jeremy Camp, and opening act Monk and Neagle. The 35+ city tour will kick off February 10 in Wichita, KS, hitting key markets including Los Angeles, Dallas, Oklahoma City and Nashville.
