Kronos Quartet Announces Autumn 2017 Concert Season
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Kronos Quartet, which released an album of Folk Songs with four Nonesuch label mates in June, has announced its concert season for the autumn of 2017. On the schedule ahead are travels to Singapore, South Korea, and throughout the United States and Canada, as well as multiple shows in and around the quartet's hometown of San Francisco.

The concerts begin with three nights at at the Singapore International Festival of Arts, August 31-September 2, including two performances of My Lai, a work for tenor, string quartet, and Vietnamese instruments performed with Rinde Eckert and Vân-Ánh Võ; and a concert of works by Steve Reich, Laurie Anderson, and Terry Riley, among others. Kronos brings My Lai to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)'s Harvey Theater for four nights, September 27-30, as part of BAM's 2017 Next Wave Festival.

In October comes the world premiere of the spoken-word chamber opera Echoes, composed by Danny Clay, written and performed by Youth Speaks poets, featuring Kronos and the chamber ensemble The Living Earth Show at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, on October 7. Kronos performs works from its Fifty for the Future commissioning project as part of the True North Festival at Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary on October 12 and joins the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra for two concerts there on October 13 and 14.

As Halloween approaches, Kronos joins composer Philip Glass for several performances of his score to Tod Browning's Dracula at screenings of the film, at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon, on October 25, and three nights in California: at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, October 28 and 29, and the Paramount Theatre in Oakland on Halloween night.
In November, Kronos performs in Washington state and in its home town, joined by students from San Francisco Unified School District and San Francisco Conservatory of Music for the latter, performing works from Fifty for the Future. From there, it's off to South Korea for performances of George Crumb's Black Angels and more in Tongyeong and Seoul, November 19 and 21.
