Esperanza Spalding's Unprecedented Exposure Album Creation And Recording Event Beginning Sept 12 To Feature Special Guests Andrew Bird, Robert Glasper, And Lalah Hathaway
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On September 12 at 9am Pacific, Esperanza Spalding will enter a recording studio and stay there for 77 hours straight while she composes and then records her new album 'Exposure,' with every second live-streamed on Facebook. Today, she is announcing that Andrew Bird, Robert Glasper, and Lalah Hathaway will all make appearances during 'Exposure,' lending their special talents to this unpredictable creative event. The three guests will visit the studio and, for a select time, join Esperanza in the development and recording of some of her 'Exposure' songs.

Last week, Esperanza spent an hour jamming with renowned architect Frank Gehry - she with her bass, he with his pencil. This celebration of spontaneous creativity was broadcast live on Facebook, and the resulting creations are being auctioned off for charity on Charitybuzz. Bid here: https://bit.ly/2wKOkZC

In the lead-up to 'Exposure,' Esperanza has also appeared on Viceland's popular late-night talk show Desus & Mero (https://bit.ly/2iudg2r), been profiled in the NY Times (https://nyti.ms/2iGB17D), been interviewed by Salon (https://bit.ly/2vWpkOt) and Time (https://ti.me/2j7GmEX), and more.

After 'Exposure' is created and recorded, it will be rendered on limited edition CD and vinyl via Concord Records - just 7,777 copies in total.

Pre-order the album in all release formats at Esperanza's website here: https://found.ee/EspWeb-j

The 'Exposure' video live stream is presented by oiid.
About the guests:
Andrew Bird is an internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, whistler, and songwriter. Since beginning his recording career in 1997, Bird has released 13 albums and performed extensively worldwide. Bird has performed as the Whistling Caruso in Disney's The Muppets movie, scored the FX series Baskets, been a featured Ted Talk presenter, a New York Times op-ed contributor, and is an advocate for Everytown for Gun Safety. Additionally, Bird hosts an ongoing Facebook Live series of performances called Live From The Great Room, putting the creative process on display for fans as he performs and converses with friends and collaborators in a candid, intimate setting.

Bird is currently working on a series of site-specific improvisational short films and recordings called Echolocations, recorded in remote and acoustically interesting spaces. The next installment, Echolocations: River (recorded under Los Angeles's Hyperion Bridge) is slated for release in October of 2017.

Robert Glasper is a multi-GRAMMY Award-winning jazz pianist and record producer who draws influence from neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz, gospel, and R&B. His many projects include The Robert Glasper Experiment, the film "Miles Ahead," an Emmy nomination for his song co-written with Common for the film "13th," and a prominent role on Kendrick Lamar's acclaimed hip-hop album 'To Pimp A Butterfly.'

Lalah Hathaway is a five-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer who is widely regarded as one of the finest R&B vocalists of the past 20 years. The daughter of soul singer Donny Hathaway, Lalah has released seven acclaimed albums since 1990.
