Kanye West Files Trademark For 'Yeezy Sound'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Kanye West has got fans buzzing after it was spotted that he has filed four federal trademark applications for the name 'YEEZY SOUND'.
His holding company Mascotte Holdings was behind the applications, filed 2 November, which, as the Tantalizing Trademarks blog notes, are extremely broad, covering:
Streaming of music, audio, images, video and other multimedia content over the internet, mobile devices, wireless networks and other computer networks and electronic communications networks (Class 38);

Record production; music production; audio recording and production; videotape production; motion picture song production; production of video discs for others; recording studios (Class 41);

Downloadable musical sound recordings; downloadable video recordings featuring music (Class 9);

Retail stores, wholesale stores, mail order services, on-line ordering services and on-line retail store services, and retail store services available through computer communications and interactive television, all of the aforesaid featuring recorded product, music related items, audio-visual products, computer goods, software and games (Class 35).

The move, which took place last week on Nov. 2, is being seen as a possible push to launch West's own streaming service. This was highlighted by his ongoing legal feud with TIDAL and personal issues with the company's co-owner, JAY-Z.

In August, Hov addressed the problems with Kanye, saying they are unrelated to their TIDAL dispute. "I don't care about none of that," he said. "It's Kanye's decision and has always been his decision. I've never held anybody back in my life from doing anything. You can't name one time I hold people back. From what? I don't do that. It's not who I am. It's nothing about business."

Over the weekend, Kanye ended a year-long hiatus from performing by joining Kid Cudi onstage. For many, this signaled an active Yeezy, who may be looking to release new music.
