Musical Polymath Jonny Polonsky To Release "Fresh Flesh" On January 19, 2018
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Musical polymath Jonny Polonsky is back with Fresh Flesh, an ambitious collection of mesmerizing songs that push the boundaries of ambient rock n' roll. Imposing limits of simplicity on the song structures helped his band to create vibrant first takes on songs about love, sex, death and power, according to Polonsky. Influences like Joy Division, the Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees collided with glam, 90s rock and punk; the sounds on the album are a synthesis of the same, without sounding exactly like any of them. The album comes out January 19, 2018 on Sound Science Industries. February 9th, they'll celebrate the release with a full band show at Hotel Cafe, they hit the stage at 9pm.

Polonsky played B-3 organ, synth and guitar throughout (often at the same time), but his soaring guitar leads are augmented by the distinctly forbidding drumming of Jennie Batter and evocative, metaphor-rich lyrics on love, loss, redemption and rebirth. Batter and bassist Katie Burden contribute lush vocals as well. Special guests on the album are quite impressive. Mark Lanegan contributes a spoken word piece and lead vocals on "Solar Child" while Kevin Haskins of Bauhaus throws down with percussion on "I Can't Get Your Face Out of My Mind". Haskins spoke on the new album, saying, "From towering arcs of rock riff blasting guitars and jubilant roof raising anthems, to vulnerable and introspective, melancholic compositions, Jonny Polonsky's Fresh Flesh will take you on an emotional journey of carefully crafted songs from this accomplished, multi instrumentalist songsmith." The entire album was produced by Polonsky and recorded at Shangri La Studios in Malibu, otherwise known as homebase for Rick Rubin.

In the 1920s, Karinthy Frigyes introduced the now ubiquitous concept of six degrees of separation, and to contemplate the mentors and colleagues of Jonny Polonsky is to imagine a vast web over some of the greats of modern music. His initial foray into music was as a teenager, distributing home-made cassettes to his friends and musical heroes; amazingly, he converted luminaries like Marc Ribot, Reeves Gabrels, John Zorn and Jeff Buckley into fans. Gabrels introduced him to Frank Black of the Pixies, who produced a demo, the strength of which earned Polonsky a solo recording deal with Rick Rubin's American Recordings. Hi My Name is Jonny hit stores on January 16, 1996 and garnered a great critical reception from international outlets like New York Times and MTV. Lollapalooza (when it was a touring festival), support tours with Black and more unfolded as Polonsky cemented an early mark for such a young musician.

Since then, Polonsky has recorded and toured with a dizzying array of artists, from Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, Minnie Driver, Donovan and the Dixie Chicks to Maynard James Keenan's Puscifer, Pete Yorn and Local H as well as Big Nose, a band he formed with Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. Keenan had this to say about playing with Jonny: "Jonny has pure artist compassion running through his blood." His music has been featured in tv shows like Girls, Roswell, Providence, 24/7 and the films Feeling Minnesota (whose soundtrack also included the Replacements and Bob Dylan) and Unaccompanied Minors.
