The Shacks Conjure A "Delicious Dream" (NPR) On 'Haze,' Debut LP Out March 30, 2018
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Today, The Shacks announce that their debut album, 'Haze,' will be out March 30th on Big Crown Records. Steeped in the techniques of timeless R&B records and analog recording, the young New York City band - barely into their 20s - create subversive, masterful pop replete with what NPR Music calls a "timeless, multi-generational warmth."

Produced by The Shacks' Max Shrager and Big Crown co-founder Leon Michels (The Arcs, Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga) in Shrager's Princeton, NJ, basement and Michels' Diamond Mine Studios in Queens, NY, 'Haze' is a seductive set of 13 original songs that fuses '60s girl groups, '70s funk, and breezy, kaleidoscopic rock into an unconventionally modern sound. Stream the psychedelic, doo-wop-inflected lead single "Follow Me" at NPR Music, who just championed the band as a 2018 Slingshot artist.

Fronted by singer/bassist Shannon Wise (20) and guitarist Max Shrager (21) - and backed by the unwavering feel of drummer Ben Borchers - The Shacks have quickly transformed from a pair of high school friends with an exhaustive expertise in musical obscurities into veterans of the road and studio. After sending Daptone co-founder Gabriel Roth a set of basement-produced, four-track demos at age 14, Shrager toured the world with Charles Bradley and Lee Fields, cut tracks with Sharon Jones, penned singles for Naomi Shelton, and collaborated with Lana Del Rey. Wise defines the band's sublime garage-rock with an airy and uncanny style, which was featured in Apple's latest iPhone 8 ad. Last year saw the band embark on national tours supporting Chicano Batman and Khruangbin, and 2018 will see them tour Europe for the first time and return to SXSW in March.

Following 2016's self-titled debut EP, 'Haze' further expands the gates to The Shacks' mesmeric, flowering world. Whether they're crafting an indelible, psychedelic lullaby like album opener "Haze" - the first song Shrager and Wise ever wrote together - or injecting funk breakdowns into the playfully pastoral "Birds," The Shacks exhibit a precocious ability to conjure up the ghosts of classic R&B, psychedelic pop, and C86-era indie, often in the same song.
