San Diego Symphony Announces Diverse Lineup For 2018 Bayside Summer Nights
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The San Diego Symphony has announced the lineup for its popular Bayside Summer Nights including "godmother of soul" Patti LaBelle; Tony-nominated singer and actress Megan Hilty; rock music icon Rick Springfield; country mega-star Clint Black; perennial Broadway classic Chicago The Musical; Motown icons The Four Tops and The Temptations; and films accompanied by live orchestra, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire™ in Concert and Academy Award®-winning West Side Story. At the heart of every Bayside Summer Nights season is the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

The San Diego Symphony's long-running summer concert series located on the Embarcadero Marina Park South provides audiences with an unparalleled experience of live concert music in one of the most beautiful settings in America. This year, the San Diego Symphony has packed a wide array of concerts into the 10-week season. Opening the series is the patriotic Star Spangled Pops on June 29, 30, and July 1, and the series concludes with a bang at the 1812 Tchaikovsky Spectacular on August 31, September 1 and 2.

"Our Bayside Summer Nights concert series is quintessential summer in San Diego. We offer the sights and sounds for the perfect summer evening, pairing stunning bay and downtown views with an incredible range of music - patriotic, 80s favorites, Motown, jazz and classical favorites - there truly is something for everyone," said CEO Martha Gilmer. "When planning the summer series, we strive to bring some of the greatest artists to perform with our exceptional Orchestra musicians. Performing outdoors adds a little special magic to the experience for both the musicians and audience."

"Another component of our Bayside Summer Nights I always look forward to are two very important community concerts. On Sunday, July 15 we will be presenting our third annual "Community Day," a day of music featuring our region's very best musicians and culminating in a free performance by the San Diego Symphony. On Thursday, August 30, the Symphony will perform our annual "Concert Under the Stars," a free concert for military families. This special day allows us to express our thanks and admiration for their service while bringing together military families," added Gilmer.

Enhancing the experience, concert-goers may take advantage of the convenient tableside food service offered in the Champagne seating section by Behind The Scenes - a leading catering and events company with an impressive client list. Guests may also pre-order gourmet meals or enjoy fresh salads, burgers, sandwiches, desserts, and snacks from concessions. The many great food options are paired with a terrific wine menu and a nice assortment of craft brews.

Thursday Night Jazz
In its third year, curated by Gilbert Castellanos, the Symphony's popular Jazz Series, Thursday Night Jazz, is back with a wide range of styles. The three-concert series begins on July 26 with Godfathers of Latin Jazz: Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo. This evening will celebrate the collaboration between jazz master Dizzy Gillespie and Cuban conguero Chano Pozo, and features some of today's most exciting jazz musicians. On August 9, we pay tribute to Charlie Parker with "Bird" on the Bay: A Charlie Parker Tribute feat. Charles McPherson. Special guest for this tribute is modern sax master Charles McPherson, famous for his work with Clint Eastwood on the Parker biopic, Bird. The series concludes by honoring remarkable women on Thursday, August 23, with Ladies Who Jam: Women in Jazz. This concert will feature some of the most interesting up-and-coming talent in jazz music today.

The Harry Potter™ Film Concert Series continues with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire™ in Concert on Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5.
