New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Earlier today composer Kevin Kliesch earned two Daytime EMMY® nominations (for Sofia The First and Tangled: The Series) and Tony Morales earned one (for Elena of Avalor) in the category of Outstanding Music Direction and Composition.
"What an honor it is to be recognized by the academy for my work on Elena Of Avalor," said Morales. "I'm beyond thankful and totally thrilled at this nomination! Elena of Avalor has been a tremendous pleasure to be a part of. Each episode brings a scoring challenge only to be topped by the next. With a mix of traditional Disney orchestra and Latin style influence, I enjoy every moment of telling her story through the score."
Morales was previously nominated for a Primetime EMMY in 2012 with John Debney for Hatfields & McCoys.
Kevin Kliesch earned two nominations in the same category - for Tangled: The Series and for Sofia The First. Kevin earned his 4th Daytime EMMY nomination for Sofia The First, winning in 2015. He was also nominated for a Primetime EMMY the same year for a Sofia The First special episode, which aired in primetime.
Said Kliesch: "Getting a Daytime Emmy nomination is a huge honor, possibly the highest honor a composer working in TV can achieve. Getting TWO in the same day for both of the shows that I work on, well I have no words! So incredibly thankful to the Academy for continuing to recognize my work on Sofia the First, and also for my work on the first season of Tangled: The Series. My mind is officially blown."
