New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On June 15th, Pennsylvania's Petal will release 'Magic Gone' (via Run For Cover Records), a 10-song declaration of personal liberation and a look into the mind and soul of singer/songwriter Kiley Lotz.

Album opener "Better Than You" is a statement of intent for 'Magic Gone' with its raucous, anthemic energy and catharsis. "Tightrope" has a bubbling energy that culminates in Lotz's soaring voice. Midway through the album, "Comfort" offers tender musicality, with Lotz's voice vacillating from whispered incantations to impassioned pleas. NPR Music calls it "so heartbreaking" in the way it details how mental health can distort even the most sacred of relationships.

"'Magic Gone' is the physical and sonic representation of me fighting for my right not only to survive but live all while coming to terms with encroaching adulthood," says Lotz. "I was a closeted queer person struggling with chronic mental health disorders; terrified that if I tried to deal with these two major issues in my life I would lose everyone and everything I loved. Coming out was the beginning of a long and continuing process of self-actualization, of taking a hard look at myself and the problems I had and how I could fix them. This record is the result of being the most honest I have ever been in my life, and the constant battle of overcoming the thought that, "maybe if I were just someone else completely, everything would be better." 'Magic Gone' is about letting go of the anger induced by all the paranoia, anxiety, guilt and pain, and embracing the magic of your own endurance and hoping for the best."

Petal will celebrate the release of 'Magic Gone' by embarking on a 20+ date tour this summer with Camp Cope, kicking off June 21 in Philadelphia and swinging through most major markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco and Washington DC. Full dates below.

The New York Times has celebrated Lotz as one of the "women making the best rock music today," also complimenting the complicated heart in the center of her music, adding that "the ache at the core of Petal's music is its signature, rendered in a manner both searing and confident." Pitchfork also has praised Petal for creating "beautifully aching songs that are illuminated by clear, direct voice and poetic lyrics," while SPIN said that the deeply personal nature of Lotz's songwriting "read[s] like vignettes, small windows peering into small slices of a lengthy timeline."
