Genre-Defining Australicana From Rich Webb
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) There are some things in music you just can't fake, a truism that fits Rich Webb perfectly. This is the sound of a band who have put in the miles gig-wise and who have, as they say, "lived a life". It's the sound of grimy bars, busted knuckles and elegant goodbyes, possibly with a bit of swearing. On the other side of the globe, this would be prime Americana, but with Australia-based Rich and his band of English troubadours, this is a completely new take - Australicana... or Aussiecana, we'll leave it up to you. What is certain is that this is immediately arresting, an album of atmospheric parables written beneath a searing sun that'll have you begging for a deluge to wash the wannabe bands away.

Spearheaded by Melbourne-based Rich Webb and aided by his English bandmates: Phil Wakeman (guitar/keyboards); George-Savva Georgiou (bass); David Eugene Webb (drums/accordion) - 'Le Rayon Vert' is the band's fourth full-length release, further exploring their offbeat tales with a house-band straight out of a modern gothic pot-boiler. Rich's rasping vocals and the avalanche of dizzying riffs drag the listener kicking and screaming on a road trip of the band's own creation - if it feels cinematic, it's because it's meant to be:
"The bulk of the album was recorded in France which probably influenced our thinking, and Le Rayon Vert was a French film we liked way back when…the premise behind it is that if you see the green ray as the sun goes down you, will be able to read the mind of the person you are with, and they will be able to read yours".

The album is produced and mixed by acclaimed sound recordist, Howard Bargroff, known not only for his work with a wide range of artists, but for his BAFTA-winning and Emmy-nominated work on TV and film, with titles including Sherlock; The Night Manager and Ripper Street. With a more than healthy live assault which has taken in locations as diverse as Australia, Switzerland and Cambodia, 'Let it Rain' is the perfect primer for the album: stuffed with riffs and eager to wrap its hands around your neck.
