JD Eicher To Release New Single In August
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) JD Eicher, the Youngstown, Ohio-born and bred pop-rock musician/singer/songwriter, is set to release a new single, "Ain't My Scene," on August 3, 2018 via AWAL/Kobalt. The track, which will be available through digital sales portals as well as Spotify, is the first single from a four-song EP from Eicher that will be released in early 2019 (details coming soon). Eicher paired up with producer Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Dashboard Confessional, Joshua Radin) for this outing, after self-producing his most recent releases in his home studio. Following long-distance pre-production, Eicher traveled to Los Angeles to record with Lefler in the spring of 2018, where the four tracks for the EP, including "Ain't My Scene," were laid down.

"'Ain't My Scene' breaks new ground for me as an artist," says Eicher. "After producing so much music at home, I was looking for someone who could push me out of the comfort zone and freshen my sound. Going to LA and working with the incredibly talented Bill Lefler was just what the doctor ordered. And, appropriately, the song is about open-mindedness and reinvention."

Eicher has been on the road already in 2018, including a West Coast jaunt earlier this summer and a spring European tour, both with Matt Brown. He plans a run of shows in August, September, and October, which will be announced soon. In the meantime, he has dates booked in the Midwest with Sawyer Fredericks (see below for a list of confirmed dates), as well as the 4th annual JD's Summer Songfest in Youngstown, OH. In addition to a set from JD, this year's fest lineup includes Ken Block and Drew Copeland of Sister Hazel, The Vindys, Steve Everett, and The Labra Brothers.

Eicher's most recent album, The Middle Distance, was released in 2016. Off-Center Views called it "lush and atmospheric," while the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel praised the album, writing, "this singer-songwriter has his Midwestern and heartland bona fides on his sleeve as he gets more personal… on his latest collection." The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said, "Although pretty and poppy and flowing, the songs are best enjoyed by people who like carefully drawn lyrics," and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review praised his versatility, writing, "Eicher's music has a chameleon-like quality that makes it accessible and familiar. It's pop, it's rock, it's roots and sometimes even bluesy, delivered with a rare musical intelligence."

Also in 2016, Eicher teamed with author Nicholas Sparks in a unique collaboration to celebrate Sparks' 20 years of publishing books. Eicher produced an original song and musical companion for Sparks' novel, Two By Two (which was published in October 2016). The soundtrack was available to fans for free via the author's website in late 2016 and included four songs by Eicher, one of which - "Two by Two" - was new and inspired by the book. The EP also included a remix version of "Not Afraid" from The Middle Distance, as well as two remasters of previously released songs -- "Love Is Gonna Find You" and "The Last Love Song." The song "Two by Two" was also incorporated into the narrative of Sparks' novel.

With his band, The Goodnights, Eicher's soaring and graceful pop-rock songcraft garnered favorable comparisons to Coldplay, Keane, The Script, The Killers, and Death Cab for Cutie. Virgin America Airlines used one of the band's songs ("Level Out") in the teaser for the airline's movie, Departure Date, and another song ("Aaron") was used in a national television ad campaign for Olive Garden. His tracks have also been used in conjunction with the FYI Network, including a promo for the show "Married At First Sight" that was a tie-in with Carmax. Eicher performed on The Rock Boat music cruise in 2014, 2016, and 2017.
