New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Big Mother Gig climbed out of the 90s to give 2018 their third single release "Obliterate," teeming with the nostalgic angst of music's weirdest, heaviest decade to date. The single is now available to stream on digital music platforms worldwide.
Although "Obliterate" would nestle nicely between Mother Love Bone and Dinosaur Jr. on '96 radio waves, it breaks through the current alt-rock scene as a breath of fresh, aggressive air. Wreaking the havoc reminiscent of their early days, Big Mother Gig delivers a full-throttle, dynamic approach to modern music in their justly named single "Obliterate," off their forthcoming LP due out in the fall. The potent new single touches on the influx of gun violence and "attempts to understand white American rage and tries to come to terms with this body of the American populace who are teetering on the edge of violence." "It's filled with judgement, attempted understanding, lost signals and a lack of redemption as the perpetrator succumbs to handcuffs," explains lead singer Richard Jankovich. "We were once again moved by the events in Parkland, FL, evidence that America's white rage problem hasn't gone away."
Big Mother Gig formed in 1992 and disbanded in 1996 after releasing three records and playing over 150 shows around the Midwest, and opening for bands like The Magnolias, The Hunger, Chris Duarte, PunchDrunk and more. The group reformed in 2017 and now comprises of Richard Jankovich (vocals, guitar), Albert Kurniawan (drums), Micah Lopez (bass) and Mike Datz (guitar, vocals). Recorded and mixed by Dan Long (Local Natives,
Spiral Stairs) and mastered by KRAMER both the single and LP reflect the band's collective desire to return home to rock. "It's real rock and roll, not safe music," explains Jankovich. "It's a song with an edge, a punk attitude, and heartfelt songwriting." Put simply, "Obliterate" is a pure venture of musicianship driven not by the motivation of fame or money, but guided by the yearning to pay homage to their first love: rock 'n' roll.

Almost Primed EP won them praise by publications like Alternative Press, New Noise Magazine, and Substream Magazine while their streaming numbers reached an impressive 350K.
