Novo Amor Announces US Tour Dates
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Novo Amor, aka Ali Lacey, has announced a string of headline tour dates for the fall season in U.S. and Canada following the European leg of his tour, all in support of his debut full-length album Birthplace, out October 19 via AllPoints. Tickets for the U.S./Canada dates go on sale to the public Friday, July 27 at 10:00am local time and can be purchased at novoamor.co.uk.

Last month, Novo Amor shared the impactful new music video for the title track "Birthplace", which has since garnered over 407K views on YouTube. The video highlights the monolithic problem of plastic ocean pollution and follows world-renowned free-diver Michael Board interacting with a 13-meter humpbacked whale sculpted from bamboo and plastic waste to showcase the fateful cause and effect system of pollution.
"The presence of plastic waste littering our oceans is not a new issue, but it's an issue that has been worsening for years and is something that we can and should be addressing," explains Lacey. "The problem is not only a threat to marine life, but to the entire food chain, our whole ecosystem. When something impacts wildlife in such a profound way, we can expect it to impact upon us. The problems are manifold, the repercussions shocking, but there are ways in which we can raise awareness of such an urgent issue, and counter it."

Lacey, who has extended his sustainability efforts beyond the arts, is also working with two UK charities - Julie's Bicycle and Energy Revolution - to limit the environmental impact of his upcoming tour dates by minimizing waste at shows and balance his fuel consumption and Co2 emissions. This self-applied 'pollution tax' will be used to generate clean, renewable energy through projects such as wind power generation and reforestation in India.

As for the new album, working from this home studio, Novo Amor has received acclaim for a catalogue of beautiful and melancholic songs that have the ability to effortlessly transport the listener to another realm. On Birthplace, the sounds of his home bleed in - the distant chatter of a party across the street, Bonfire Night fireworks, and the seagulls that congregate on the building site next door. Even the sound of the late-night recording hours Lacey kept to avoid the sounds of construction seem to make their presence felt: "I think there's something calming about working at night," he says. "You can focus on smaller details and sounds."

"Birthplace, as a song, represents change, the release of an attachment to something that defines your character. It's a theme that inadvertently manifested during the making of the record. The birth of Novo Amor was just me 'emigrating' from myself in a way; a departure in the wake of defeat. I've always been inspired by sudden changes and movements in my life, and I've felt that the creation of this record has been a further articulation of this. This 'emigration from self' is now felt and expressed more as a landing, a 'becoming of self', a joyous but slightly skewed look back at the past."
