DETROIT (AP) - Although Aerosmith has been advertised as a participant in Sunday's (October 21) United We Stand What More Can I Give? benefit concert at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., playing the show has become a daunting prospect for the Boston band. Guitarist Brad Whitford tells LAUNCH that no one ever asked Aerosmith to do it--by the group's understanding, someone in the *NSYNC camp said Aerosmith would play, "and then someone called us up and said, not necessarily 'Would you like to do the show?', but 'Guess what--someone said you're gonna be there.' And we didn't quite know how to handle that."

Complicating matters is the fact that Aerosmith has a concert that night in Indianapolis. Whitford says the group is looking into different ways to make both shows happen--possibly going on very early in the day at RFK Stadium or perhaps beaming a performance in via satellite from Indianapolis, much like Janet Jackson plans to do for Saturday's (October 20) Concert For New York City at Madison Square Garden. "It's kind of a round-the-clock discussion at the moment trying to figure out how it's all gonna work," Whitford says. "We're trying to work it out."
