New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Power-pop / indie rock outfit The Persian Leaps dropped a new single "Time Slips" today, off their upcoming album Pop That Goes Crunch. A savory blend of fuzz-guitar, harmonic vocal melodies, driving bass lines, and solid rock drums makes it a smooth and delicious swallow for fans of jangle-pop, power-pop, and indie rock groups. With five EPs under their belt, "Time Slips" proves a tasty tease of whats yet to come for the band; it premiered on PopDose earlier this week.
"Time Slips" provides a bittersweet and nostalgic reflection for vocalist Drew Forsberg. He shared, "It's a song I wrote about my grandparents, who lived hundreds of miles and a few states away from me. I spent summers with them as a younger kid, and they were incredibly important to me. But after I became a busy (and self-involved) adult, I rarely saw them before their deaths. I still feel guilt and regret over how I drifted out of their lives." Forsberg releases these emotions in the track as a cathartic experience, but also encourages others to reach out to those that are important in their lives - before the opportunity passes by.
In addition to its moving inspiration, "Time Slips" also marks itself as another notable track for a very different reason - it is the only entirely new track on the band's upcoming release. After releasing five EPs over the last five years, The Persian Leaps upcoming (and debut full-length) album Pop That Goes Crunch, comes as an anthology piece, for reflection and celebration of the band's very best work. Aside from "Time Slips", the seventeen other tracks on the album are all select renditions from across the band's discography, with full remixing, remastering and many featuring re-recorded sections. As Forsberg shared,"It's the culmination of over five years as a full band and includes what I think is our best work (even better now, in some cases)."
