New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Japanese DJ Taku Takahashi teams up with Ningen Inc. and Datsumou Recipe to release English microsite for their dance music project Pubic Hair Grooving.

It wasn't easy taming these unruly notes into a piece of music.
Breaking through the taboo of pubic hair, international record producer DJ Taku Takahashi has teamed up with Osaka's quirky ad agency Ningen Inc. and hair removal website Datsumou Recipe to launch a new English microsite for their collaborative music project Pubic Hair Grooving that aims to offer a meaningful attempt to expand the possibilities of Japanese pop music through pubic hair.

The brainchild of Ningen Inc., Pubic Hair Grooving was born of the desire to break the stigma of pubic hair maintenance and styling that is deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Because personal grooming is not as taboo in the West as it remains in the East, Ningen Inc. sought out the internationally respected Takahashi to help make this project become reality. The result was Takahashi's dance track titled "In Motion" — an auditory message for all Japanese women to no longer hide behind their pubic hair and boldly share its hidden charm with the world!

The eureka moment for this project happened when a member of Ningen Inc. noticed how the shape of pubic hair was very similar to the shape of sound waves. From this came not only the desire to transform nature's twists and curls into mesmerizing electronic samples, but to make pubic hair sing. As explained by Takahashi, he was tasked with "taming these unruly notes into a piece of music" prefacing this with "it wasn't easy." The end result, Takahashi went on to say, is a drifting melody that is "a bit melancholic, almost tugs at your heartstrings."

In order to secure as many pubic hairs as possible, Ningen Inc. collected strands from Japanese women who agreed with the project's purpose and then asked Takahashi to transform each hair sample into a wave sample based on unique attributes like length and curliness to create a sound as if the hair was singing. The result? From countless samples, a select few were chosen to form a song that has given Japanese women a new groove to reverberate throughout the world.

After the dance track was completed, Takahashi reflected on the project by saying, "The real challenge is how deep we can go with pubic hair. That's the core message of our song."
