Vocalist, producer and visual artist Yaeji debuts a new track "One More" today. "One More" is the first new song from Yaeji since releasing her critically acclaimed EP2 last year. Since the release, Yaeji has taken her hybrid live set across the world, with debuts at Coachella, Sonar and Berghain's Panorama Bar as well as a sold out headlining tour of North America.
Yaeji explains, "'One More (????)' is a track I started while experiencing deep growing pains. I felt lost in my life's quick change of pace and betrayed by someone I trusted. I needed to write this song to understand what was happening around me. Throughout the next few months, I kept revisiting the track, adding and taking away bits, changing the synth completely, rewriting a part of the lyrics; -it was a constantly changing piece that documented the process of my transformation. Listening to the earliest version of the song through its evolution, I remembered the times I was confused or angry, processed those feelings, understood my pains, and finally felt like I gained a bit of control over it all. 'One More' is about enduring and coming to terms with pain until you have the strength to forgive and move on."
"One More" follows the recent release of Yaeji's rework of Charli XCX's "Focus." This summer also saw Yaeji perform an original composition of experimental work at London's Serpentine Galleries: Park Nights. The work, performed to a blindfolded audience, explored Yaeji's musical influences and connection to UK dance and electronic music through deconstructed and recontexualised compositions.
This fall will see Yaeji on her second headlining tour of North America
this year, with stops in Los Angeles, Berkeley, Chicago, DC, New York and more.
Yaeji's music is an invitation into an intimate, healing world, exploring identity and self-reflection through dreamlike house productions that morph from whispery confessionals to dancefloor burners. Born in Queens to Korean parents and raised in both the U.S. and Seoul, Yaeji's world is one that splits between cultures and knows no boundaries. She puts her genuine self in all that she touches; - in her productions in which she sings and raps in both Korean and English, in her high-energy, hybrid DJ sets, in her Curry in No Hurry events, her merch and beyond. Pulsing with irresistible charm and spirit, Yaeji's 2017 debut self-titled EP and EP2 captivated listeners and critics alike, garnering praise from NPR, Vogue, The FADER, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, Dazed and more. Yaeji now finds herself on the global stage and is inviting everyone to join.
