Michael Martin Murphey Previews Highly-Anticipated Austinology Album With Exclusive Livestream On CountryRoadTV
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Michael Martin Murphey, legendary recording artist/songwriter and multiple-Grammy nominee known for hits such as "Wildfire," "Geronimo's Cadillac," "What's Forever For," "Carolina in the Pines," "Cherokee Fiddle" and more, will preview his highly-anticipated upcoming album, Austinology: Alleys of Austin (release date: Oct. 19), with an upcoming LIVESTREAM concert on October 18 at 9 p.m. eastern/8 p.m. central from the sold-out, historic Franklin Theatre (419 Main Street, Franklin, Tenn.).

The one-night-only, LIVESTREAM concert, exclusively available on demand and presented by CountryRoadTV.com (the new OTT/online country lifestyles network), will also feature appearances by Amy Grant, The Last Bandoleros, and other surprise guests. The online broadcast and its performance is expected to reach over two million viewers via its partners, including the country music media powerhouse,Country Rebel.

Like the album, the event celebrates and reflects upon Murphey's "Cosmic Cowboy"days: the 70's Austin music scene. Nearly 50 years ago, Murphey, Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Steve Earle, and other musicians working the "Alleys of Austin," pioneered a masterful mashup of unabashed progressive ideals set to country music--a sound that captured the world's attention, and later gave rise toOutlaw Country (and ultimately Americana).

"This album is about the style and substance that makes a song that stands the test of time, a song that has a chance of living on in the Great American Songbook," Murphey explains. "So I did my personal take on songs by Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Allan Damron, as well as songs made popular by Willie and Waylon. I stayed with songs that came out when I was there--between 1968 and 1974--because I personally experienced what the impact of that songwriting style was on the culture.[Laughs] Because I was there, you know?"
"I'm thrilled to working with CountryRoadTV.com to celebrate this seminal era of not only the Austin music scene, but the American music scene," says Murphey.?
"We have certainly set the bar high for what fans might find on CountryRoadTV.com,"chuckles Ian Black (managing partner at Country Road Management). "... to have one of the great pioneers of our time, Michael Martin Murphey, providing a concert for a project that is so iconic. We couldn't be more humbled or proud. We know the fans are going to love it!"

Hosted by Franklin's beloved personalities, Rodeo & Juliet, the event and broadcast are sponsored by Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment, BootDaddy, Tiffin Motorhomes, andHeartlight's "Parenting Today's Teen" with Mark Gregston.
