In the bright, colourful new video for "Trust My Lonely", Cara once again dons the symbolic oversized suit she wore in the "
Growing Pains" video, as well as recent appearances on Fallon, Colbert and The Today Show. Cara told the Today crew: "It's an artistic way of symbolizing the idea of growing up. Sometimes you kind of feel like you're drowning and you feel like you're not ready for the roles life throws at you so this was my way of symbolizing it in an artistic way." Cara also took to her Instagram to help add some clarity, saying "the oversized suit visually represents the idea of growing up too fast, or trying to fit ourselves into roles that can feel too large to handle. we aren't always prepared for life when it runs towards us full speed. sometimes it feels like we're drowning in it a little, sometimes it's mundane and stagnant. that's what the suit is."
As Cara hits the road on a whirlwind promotional tour for "Trust My Lonely", she has scheduled a series of speaking engagements at four college campuses discussing her music, her process, and her personal story of growth as an artist and as young woman. The tour began October 1st at the University of Miami's Frost School of
Music and continued at the University of Central Florida in Orlando on October 2nd; Georgia
State University in Atlanta on October 3rd and today at the
Detroit Institute of
Music Education.
