Boys Don't Cry"). The film is directed by Bille August and written by Mark Rosin. Last year 55 STEPS was in competition at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film will be released via all cable networks on October 16, 2018 and theatrically on November 16, 2018.
55 STEPS tells the true story of pro bono lawyer Colette Hughes (Hilary Swank) who, when she goes to meet her new client, Eleanor Riese (Helena Bonham Carter), a patient in the psychiatric unit of a San Francisco hospital, has no idea that, aside from taking on an uphill legal battle to improve treatment for mental patients in hospitals, she is meeting a woman who will make it her mission to transform Colette's workaholic life and change the laws/rights for mentally ill patients forever.
