It is 1851, and Charlie and Eli Sisters (Joaquin
Phoenix and John C. Reilly) are boys grown to men in a savage and hostile world of the frontier. Now ride as both brothers and assassins in THE SISTERS BROTHERS. They have blood on their hands: that of criminals, that of innocents…and know no existence other than that of the hired gun. The older of the two, introspective Eli (Reilly) rides hard while the other brother dares to dream of a normal life. It is the younger, hard-drinking Charlie (Phoenix) who has taken charge with gusto, acting as the big dog on the duo's assignments. It is a friction between the brothers that increasingly leads to questions and quibbles about each other's methods.
The Sisters brothers find themselves on a journey through the Northwest, bringing them to the mountains of Oregon, a dangerous brothel in the small town of Mayfield, and eventually, the Gold Rush land of California — a journey that will test the deadly family ties that bind. But, can it also be the path to rediscovering what remains of their humanity?

FOX, THE KING'S SPEECH, ARGO, PHILOMENA, THE IMITATION GAME and Wes Anderson's THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL which won the 2015 Oscar for Best Score. Desplat's thematic score to Guillermo Del Toro's film, THE SHAPE OF WATER garnered a 2018 Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and recently won the Academy Award for Best Original Score.

Born to a Greek mother and French father, Desplat grew up in France with a budding love for Hollywood film music, and broke into the French film industry in the 1980s. With a penchant for lyricism, elegant orchestrations, and precise dramatization, Desplat has quickly joined the pantheon of all-time greats. "I was in a car with a friend who had offered me a double vinyl of Star Wars," Desplat remembers. "It might have been '78. He gave me this record, and I remember having said to him, "Hmm. 'Music composed and conducted by John Williams.' That's what I want to do." And that's what I'm doing."
