New York, NY (Top40 Charts) After a month of brainstorming with award-winning director Carlo Corbellini, the pair decided to create a machine that would appear to extract Shungudzo's soul from her body without using special effects. They called upon Brett Doar (the master contraptionist behind OK Go's "This Too Shall Pass") to bring their idea to life. "Throughout the film, we used projection scenes to represent my soul's fight to stay intact, and its ultimate journey back to me - because, at its core, this is a video about refusing to sacrifice one's integrity for money," Shun explains. "If we could collectively agree to do this, as people and as governments, I think the world would be a much better place for us and future generations."

"Paper" was inspired by Shungudzo's immigration to America aka 'the promised land,'and about"seeking money to find happiness only to realize that, often, it means losing happiness - and maybe even losing oneself - in the process." Explains the Stanford University engineering major whose family migrated from Zimbabwe when Shun was a child.

Shun's ambition through her music is to gain an influential platform to affect fundamental social, educational and political changes in her home country, and on behalf of displaced and disenchanted youth around the globe. In 2017, she released the powerful and understated "Long Live The Billionaire." Another disguised but deeply insightful and political song, the lyrics seethe, "Soldier in the road? Did they promise you gold? Do you think that you're aiming that gun that you hold?"Described as an "immigrants' rallying cry" by TIME Magazine who praised Shun for her socially conscious lyrics [Listen HERE], "Paper" is yet another powerful observation from a radical thinker and artist whose understated comprehension of the pop song helps her deliver important messages while making people dance. Shungudzo is currently working on her debut EP and plans to release more music in early 2019. "Paper" is worldwide on all platforms NOW.
