Malone, who initially had designs on dropping a "new body of work" before 2018's end, gave some insight on what fans may can expect next from him in a recent interview with Hits Daily Double: "I like everything - metal, old country, hip-hop, funk and R&B," he said in October when asked if genre meant anything to him anymore. "What I'm not into is boxes. I don't put people in boxes. There are no genres anymore. If a song makes you feel nice or it makes you feel sad or if it makes you feel anything, what does it really matter what category it is?"
