New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Citizen Cope releases his new album 'Heroin And Helicopters' on Rainwater Recordings/Thirty Tigers. 'Heroin And Helicopters' has earned accolades from Billboard who called the new music "personal and poignant," as well as NPR Music who said lead single "Justice" "swaggers with a head-nodding groove and contains a yearning and soulful message of optimism and positivity."

The title 'Heroin And Helicopters' was inspired by a conversation Cope had with Carlos Santana when he told him to "stay away from the two H's," saying both had fatal results for people in music. To Cope, the quote reflected a larger pattern in society - a metaphor for addiction and instant gratification he contends with all throughout the record. Both technically innovative and emotionally resonant, 'Heroin And Helicopters' thus arrives at a uniquely challenging moment in modern American culture, when profound political polarization and social divisions seem to grow deeper by the day.
Last week, Cope stopped by the Paste Studios in NYC to perform a number of songs from the record. Watch below: "We're all going towards this collective consciousness, and even though it's dark right now, I believe we're going to reach that place together," Cope says. "Peace and harmony and understanding, that's how you combat the darkness, and that's what this record is all about."

Recently, Cope made an appearance at the GRAMMY Museum in LA for an intimate evening of conversation and music. This Spring, he'll tour extensively with a full band for the first time in years in support of 'Heroin and Helicopters,' making stops at The Beacon Theatre in New York City, The Novo in Los Angeles and more. Cope has also announced a new teacher appreciation initiative where he will give front row seats to a teacher in each of the cities on the upcoming tour.
