Berklee College Of Music And School Of Rock Partner To Promote Gender Diversity In Music
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Berklee College of Music, the world's premier contemporary music institution, is partnering with School of Rock, an international music school for students of all ages and skill levels, to offer a unique music education experience to a select group of School of Rock students. Berklee will award full scholarships to eight young women from School of Rock's AllStars program to attend a week-long music intensive at Berklee's Boston campus this summer.

Selected School of Rock students will train with Berklee faculty in performance, music theory, ensembles, and overall musicianship. The week culminates with a recorded and live-streamed performance at a Berklee venue.

Through this partnership both organizations aim to empower young women musicians and create opportunities that support the diversification of the global music industry.

"This partnership is one of many initiatives that the college is undertaking to nurture, support, and celebrate women in music," notes Berklee's Dean of Admissions, Damien Bracken. "We look forward to welcoming these talented young artists to Berklee for a week this July."

The scholarship program is part of a broader joint initiative between Berklee and School of Rock. Berklee Online will offer exclusive courses to School of Rock members, allowing students to study online with Berklee faculty in areas including music business, musicianship, and music theory. School of Rock teachers also receive special access to Berklee Online's extensive curriculum.

"School of Rock is incredibly blessed to have amazing representation of talented female students, instructors, and franchise owners," according to Rob Price, School of Rock CEO. "In addition, our corporate staff is a female majority. Our work with Berklee College of Music will help empower the next generation of creators and leaders in the industry."
