New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Today, Briston Maroney releases new music video "Rose." Following "
Under My Skin" and "Freakin' Out On the Interstate," "Rose" is Maroney's third video and counting with recurring collaborator, former roommate, and fellow in-demand Nashvillian Joey Brodnax. "Rose" is also the epic and endearing close to Maroney's recent Carnival EP, his first for Canvasback Music, and a gripping introduction to new "proof that rock and roll is very much alive" (NPR).
On "Rose," The 21-year-old channels a childhood spent shuttling back and forth between households in Knoxville, TN, and Florida's Amelia Island, telling an unsettling tale of extraterrestrial communication. Maroney uses a spaceship tent, the hieroglyphics on his chest, divine iconography, and a haphazard crown of antennas to convert his attic into an otherworldly portal.
After navigating a nomadic past, dropping out of college and restarting his life, Briston Maroney landed in the middle of Nashville's fertile DIY scene. His scrappy vision cuts to the bone with a voice gentle and guttural, filtering early fascinations with
John Prine through his own unique palette and producing music at a prolific pace. Maroney is preparing to release another EP in the coming weeks.
Maroney is currently on tour with Vacation Manor, and is set to support both Liz
Cooper & the Stampede and
Wallows on their tours this spring and summer, with more shows coming through the rest of the year - full dates below.
Watch him perform his millions-streamed "Freakin' Out On the Interstate" live on World Cafe.
