Considered her best album to date Cat explains what went into the making of Ascent
It's the album I've been aspiring to make for years- a dream come true- collaborated on and supported by wonderful people that I love dearly. Ascent is my best work to date, thanks to my co-writers and producer. I am so honored to have had the opportunity to work with Jim Marcus.
Ascent is out now exclusively on Bandcamp through record label Hakatak International and will be available worldwide on all major platforms April 26th
About Dissonance
Dissonance began as an electronic duo in the early 90's consisting of Cat Hall (vocals) and David Sebrind (keyboards). They caught the ear of Paul Robb (Information Society) who was forming his label Hakatak International, and were signed in 1996. Their first self-titled release, Dissonance, came out in 1997. The style was edgy electronica, with Cat's distinctively layered vocals. 1998 saw Cat working with Paul Robb on a more aggressive solo project (Cat Hall - Come To Mama, also available on Hakatak).
The second release from Dissonance came in 2000 with Reincarnate- on Nilaihah Records. After this, the band focused on individual pursuits until 2015 when Cat revived Dissonance and began work on Ascent- collaborating with several new co-writers. While waiting for the completion of Ascent, Hakatak released Dissonance:Void, a much darker album, in 2017; and in 2018, Dissonance:Sycamores. Ascent will be the 5th Dissonance release, available on Hakatak International on April 26, 2019. This record is energetic, danceable darkwave, produced and co-written by Jim Marcus (Die Warzau, GoFight) and also features Kurt Larson of Information Society.
