Beatriz Luengo, Kany García, Pedro Capó And Sofia Reyes To Headline "The World Can Also Pop" Panel At Billboard Latin Music Week
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Billboard is proud to announce that leading pop artists Beatriz Luengo, Kany García, Pedro Capó and Sofia Reyes will headline "The World Can Also Pop" panel at the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Week. They'll take the stage on Tuesday, April 23 for a roundtable discussion of the future of the pop music genre in an urban world. Billboard Latin Music Week will take place at The Venetian in Las Vegas on April 22-25.

The panel will be moderated by Billboard associate editor Suzette Fernandez and Bryant Pino, Director of Latin Music Programming for SiriusXM.

A true music phenomenon, Beatriz Luengo started her solo career with the album "Mi Generación" after shooting to stardom with Upa Dance group. The Grammy award winning artist has sold more than 1.5 million records and has had #1 hits on the radio charts in France, Spain, and Belgium. A renowned composer, Beatriz has written songs for film soundtracks like "The Fate of the Furious," as well as for top artists including Thalia, Jennifer Lopez, Daddy Yankee, Ozuna, Wisin, Yandel, Ricky Martin and more.

Born in Puerto Rico, acoustic-pop singer-songwriter Kany García is a unique and unmistakable talent whose expressive performances, vivid wordplay and perceptive lyrics have made her a voice for young women across Latin America and the United States. Her first album "Cualquier Día" was released in in 2007, and recognized as the most acclaimed debut of the year, earning her two Latin Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album. Her latest album, "Soy Yo," received four Latin Grammy nominations and was named one of the 50 Best Albums of 2018 - among all genres - by Billboard magazine. As a composer, Kany has written songs for legendary artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Roberto Carlos, Chayanne and more.

Award-winning singer-songwriter Pedro Capó has taken over streaming platforms and radio charts across the globe with his diamond-certified hit "Calma Remix" alongside Farruko, which hit No. 1 on Billboard's Latin Airplay chart. Capó has also composed award-winning hit songs for artists such as Ricky Martin ("La Mordidita" and "Disparo Al Corazón"), and performed alongside legendary urban music duo Wisin & Yandel. The multi-faceted artist is also a respected actor, having starred in the critically acclaimed film Sol De Medianoche, the Broadway musical Celia, and in the successful TV series Guerra de Ídolos on Telemundo.

Singer-songwriter Sofia Reyes moved to Los Angeles from Mexico when she was just 16 years old to launch her solo career with independent label, Bakab. Her first single, "Muévelo"- alongside Wisin- immediately charted on Billboard's Top 20 Latin Pop Songs, where it stayed for 5 months. Since then, the 23-year old artist's star has only continued to rise. Her hit song "Sólo Yo" with Prince Royce earned her the #1 spot on Billboard's Latin Pop Chart in 2016, making her the first female singer in five years to do so after Jennifer Lopez. Reyes has collaborated with top artists including Slushii, Cash Cash, Anitta and Rita Ora.

"Latin pop is at a particularly exciting time, with all kinds of sounds, fusions and styles hitting the charts. We're fortunate to have four great, and very different artists/songwriters speaking on where the genre is going," said Leila Cobo, Billboard's Vice President and Latin Industry Lead.

Returning for its 29th year, Latin Music Week features Q&A sessions and panels, including its signature "Star Q&As" as well as panels focusing on streaming, videos, both mainstream and Latin collaborations and more. Latin Music Week 2019 will include the return of the standout Women's Panel, which became a catalyst for change in the Latin industry in 2018, as well as a panels on streaming, new business models and BMI's fabled "How I Wrote That Song" panel.
