Experimental Indie-Pop Artist KYOSi Debuts A "Defiant Anthem For The Underprivileged And Voiceless"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) New York-based artist, KYOSi, announces her single, "All I've Had," from her impassioned new EP, Negative Space, due out June 21, 2019.
The three-track release is a blend of ethereal pop, folk, and nods to jazz. Negative Space takes listeners on a journey through grief and anger by exploring themes ranging from class politics, race and gender issues, to the coercion of capitalism. The EP serves as a political commentary on the current administration and the injustices being faced nationwide.

Tackling gender and inequality, lead single "All I've Had" discusses the defiance of privileged men in positions of power. It narrates the trauma families face when fleeing their home only to be greeted in a new country with cages and hostility. "All I've Had" is a combination of house and jazz soundscapes that are a full pendulum swing both harmonically and technically from the KYOSi's previous releases. KYOSi draws influence from artists such as Sampha, Kid Cudi, and The Invisible.

Negative Space follows a number of acclaimed singles and remixes, which attracted tastemaker blogs, including EARMILK, Impose Magazine, Punchland, Wonky Sensitive, and more. She also received international recognition, taking her performances to Berlin, Prague and back to Brooklyn. Stay tuned for additional announcements around and more material from the release of the EP.

Born from a series of dreams, the name KYOSi represents a character fascinated by sound, math, symmetry, beauty, wonder and color. Shows meander between verse and chorus style future-pop to deep, floor-opening doomsday bass, sampled laughter, pointed political criticism and experimental sampled sounds.

KYOSi is the alias for multimedia artist, Dani DiCiaccio, who places value in the aesthetics and creativity of the visual arts. The artwork for the EP includes many symbolic images in an eclectic way that represent each track specifically, and are all unique from the standard, "cookie-cutter" artwork other artists may use.

After studying voice at the Eastman School of Music, Ithaca College, KYOSi began producing music in 2008, while also managing a non-profit music studio for inner city youth and singing backup vocals for a band based in Ithaca, NY. KYOSi moved to New York in 2011 to expand her musical knowledge and grow as a solo artist. She subsequently released two EPs under her former pseudonym, More Dani, gaining recognition for her genre-bending mix of pop, electronic, hip hop and Caribbean music. Her music blends live instruments, found sounds, pre-recorded audio and electronics, topping off this mix with a trained and carefully crafted vocal style.
