New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Barns Courtney's new album, 404, will be released on September 6 by Capitol Records. Today, as the album pre-order launched, he shared his new single, "You And I," and the official video, which was helmed by award-winning director Pablo Maestres.

Tickets will go on sale at 10:00 AM local time today for Barns Courtney's 404 Tour. The North American headline run will kick off on September 3 at Fineline Music Hall in Minneapolis and include shows at New York City's Webster Hall (September 9) and The Fonda in Los Angeles (September 26). Tickets are on sale now at https://barnscourtney.com.

Hailed by Rolling Stone as a "stomping, swaggering rock & roll balancing act teetering between blinding light and total darkness," Barns Courtney is currently touring with Elle King. In between headline dates, he's opened for everyone from The Who and Blur to Ed Sheeran and The Wombats, prompting The Dallas Observer to note, "At the rate he's been performing, it won't be long until he's burned his name into the memory of anyone and everyone who bought a ticket to see someone different."

Fans who pre-order the digital album will instantly receive the new single, "You And I," plus "99," which has racked up nearly 25 million cumulative streams globally and topped The A-List: Alternative playlist on Apple Music. "99" is Barns Courtney's highest-charting single yet, entering the Top 5 at Alternative radio and the Top 15 at the AAA format. Clash Magazine called the accompanying video "a real trip, a colourful, at times hilarious return that showcases his inherent creativity."

The title of Barns Courtney's new album will no doubt be familiar to anyone who's ever searched for something online and found themselves face to face with nothing. 404 is an album that explores feelings of loss and bereftness inspired by life's habit of throwing up its own error pages. Barns Courtney explores absence, frustration and the never-ending search for something that seemed like it would always be there until one day, suddenly, it wasn't: his childhood.

He wrote and produced the 10-song collection with synth wiz and longtime friend Sam Battle. All in all, 404 is a commentary on his journey from awe struck naivety to the dark realization of adulthood. The big picture, Barns Courtney notes, is "a weird alternative Narnia or Neverland, where all the tropes of your childhood have melted. From Pokémon to Nintendo 64, the core of my being is there: an unorthodox maelstrom of memories condensed down into this bizarre undulating world."

It makes sense that the album sounds like it does. "To start with I wanted to make a punk record or a Rolling Stones album, but what came out was the synth heavy sound of 404," he says. "To do anything else wouldn't have worked. It's a strange amalgamation of influences based on everywhere I've been and some places I haven't."

Barns Courtney has already surpassed a half billion cumulative streams globally -including more than 200 million streams in the U.S. His 2017 debut album, The Attractions Of Youth, sold over 300,000 adjusted album units worldwide. It contained the singles "Golden Dandelions," "Fire," and "Glitter & Gold."
