James Edward Barker, best known for his iconic film scores in 'Lean on Pete' and 'Mara,' has a new film in the works titled, 'The Courier.' This project is by far his most involved work to-date, as the man of many talents is not only composer but also co-writer and producer of this action film, starring Academy Award Winning actor Gary Oldman ('Darkest Hour', 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy').
Furthermore, the action thriller stars Dermot Mulroney ('August Osage County', "My Best Friend's Wedding') and Olga Kurylenko ('Quantum of Solace' and 'Mara'), who portrays the courier, "whose daily deliveries are interrupted when she discovers her latest package is a bomb aimed at the witness of a crime lord's murder. She then embarks on a race against time to save the target from corrupt CIA agents and Russian mercenaries."
The film will be distributed through Signature Films, and Rollercoaster Angel
Productions, which James
co-founded with 'The Courier' director, Zackary Adler who is known for his work in the British crime drama realm. The project is currently in post-production.
Edward Barker describes working on the extremely "ambitious" action thriller:
"Zack Adler (Director) and I set out to develop the screenplay into a contemporary, relevant and high-octane rollercoaster ride with an array of exciting, versatile characters at its core. It was also amazing to have had the time in pre-production to explore these roles knowing we had the great cast of Olga Kurylenko, Gary Oldman, Amit Shah, Alicia Agneson, William
Moseley and Dermot Mulroney. It's been an incredibly arduous but rewarding journey and Zack and I are very proud to have this as the first feature film on o slate for Rollercoaster Angel. I'm now getting to the point where I'll begin work on the score, and I've now been trying out various directions for the past few weeks. There's a fine balance of urgency, tension, desperation and action and so I'm drawing on influences from a wide scope of artists and scores including 'Daredevil,' 'Haunting Of Hill House,' 'Dunkirk,' 'Glass,' 'Wolf Creek,' 'Narcos,' 'John Wick,' 'Assassination Nation' and 'Tron:Legacy'… so who knows where I'll end up but it's a film with heart and tremendous performances, so I'm already starting ahead of the game!!"

Frankel ('Night Of The Iguana, Battle
Of The Bulge').
Barker has composed music for over 30 feature films and is best known for his work on the award-winning, 'Lean On Pete,' which James

Presently, James
is fully immersed in his work on The Courier, which is his most creatively involved project to date, where he's co-screenwriter, lead producer, and composer. The film is currently in post-production and will be released through Rollercoaster Angel
