SACRAMENTO, CA. (Mallory & Associates/ www.oldsacramento.com) - Memorial Day weekend (May 27-30, 2005), historic Old Sacramento once again takes center stage as the "birthplace of Jazz Jubilee." Now in its 32nd year, the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee is the largest traditional jazz festival in the world. The four-day celebration attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year who enjoy over 125 bands.
As the place where it all started, Old Sacramento will feature more than 100 of those bands, jamming with nonstop swinging music, dancing and lots of great food. With its colorful specialty shops, award-winning restaurants, first-rate museums and ample parking, Old Sacramento provides an amazing backdrop for a world of lively activities.
Although traditional jazz is the central focus of the Jubilee, bands from across the world, as far away as Guatemala and Poland, will bring the melodious sounds of all jazz styles to the streets of Old Sacramento including British Traditional, Chicago, Hot Dance, New Orleans, and West Coast Revival. The Jubilee's musical styles have expanded over the years to include Barbershop, Blues, Gospel, Latin Jazz, Ragtime, Swing, and Zydeco.
