Stars glittered this evening at the Miami Arena in downtown Miami, where the glamour of this year's Billboard Latin Music Awards finalists, the thrill of each performance, and the emotional moment preceding each award thrilled television viewers from coast to coast. Top honors at the nation's most important and prestigious Latin music event went to Juanes, Paulina Rubio and Los Horoscopos de Durango, each taking home three Latin Billboard Awards. The Billboard Latin Music Awards, a multi-million-dollar mega production featuring 16 performances and four stages, were produced by Telemundo and broadcast live by the network.

Juanes won Hot Latin Track of the Year for "Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor;" Latin Pop Album of the Year, Male for "Mi Sangre;" and Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year, Male for "Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor." Paulina Rubio received awards in the categories of Hot Latin Tracks Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Album of the Year, Female for "Pau-Latina," and Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year, Female for "Te Quise Tanto." The up-and-coming female-fronted group Los Horoscopos de Durango was the recipient of Regional Mexican Album of the Year, Female Group or Female Solo Artist for "Locos de Amor," Regional Mexican Airplay Track of the Year, Female Group or Female Solo Artist for "Dos Locos," and Regional Mexican Airplay Track of the Year, New Artist for "Dos Locos."

Snatching two Latin Billboard Awards each were: Grupo Climax, which won in the Regional Mexican Album of the Year, Male Duo or Group and the Regional Mexican Album of the Year, New Artist categories, both for the title song "Za Za Za;" Monchy & Alexandra, winners in the Tropical Album of the Year, Duo or Group category for "Hasta El Fin" and the Tropical Airplay Track, Duo or Group category for "Perdidos;" Aleks Syntek and Ana Torroja, recipients of the awards in the Hot Latin Track of the Year, Vocal Duet and the Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year, Duo or Group categories, both for the title song "Duele El Amor;" and Juan Luis Guerra, winner in the Tropical Album Of The Year, Male category and Latin Christian/Gospel Album of the Year, both for "Para Ti". Guerra also received Billboard's Spirit of Hope Award for his humanitarian work through the Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40 Foundation.

Also honored this evening were Los Temerarios, winners in the Top Latin Albums Artist Of The Year category; Vicente Fernandez, winner in the Latin Tour Of the Year category; and Julieta Venegas, winner in the Latin Pop Album of the Year, New Artist for "Si."

Special awards were also presented to Marco Antonio Solis, Marc Anthony and David Bisbal. Winner in the Latin Greatest Hits Album of the Year category, Marco Antonio Solis was also recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his distinguished 20-year musical career. Renowned Salsa artist Marc Anthony, received the Star Award for his outstanding accomplishments in the industry, and for second consecutive year, David Bisbal received the Viewer's Choice Award, which is based on fan's votes.

The night was filled with memorable moments, beginning with a three-star mega opening of back-to-back performances by Soraya, Aleks Syntek and Paulina Rubio. This was followed by an unprecedented celebration of today's urban movement when internationally renowned urban artist P.Diddy, Daddy Yankee, winner in the Reggaeton Album of the Year category, and Crooked Stilo, took the stage and joined for a west coast/east coast urban rendition ending with an electrifying performance of "La Gasolina." In addition, two big stars, Franco de Vita and Olga Tanon, joined together for a melodious duet with their interpretation of "Hay Dios." The night also featured top performances by Marco Antonio Solis, Juanes, Thalia, Marc Anthony, Christian Castro, Conjunto Primavera, and Juan Luis Guerra. The surprise element of the night was rendered by Tony Melendez, in a tribute to the memory of late Pope John Paul II; this artist, who was born without arms, utilized his feet to play the guitar and perform a soul stirring song.

The star-studded event was hosted by TV personality Candela Ferro and telenovela superstar Saul Lisazo, while Jimmy Smits, Ray Santiago, Ana Gabriel, Joan Sebastian, Graciela Beltran, Tito Nieves, Andres Garcia, Gabriela Spanic, Jose Angel Llamas, Danna Garcia, Miguel Varoni, and Maria Celeste Arraras were among the awards presenters.

The awards show was preceded by the star-studded red carpet arrivals, which for the first time featured a stage with live performances by young up-and-coming artists, including JD Natasha, Pitbull and Javier Garcia.
