With an aggressive yet melodic indie rock sound, Salt Lake City's Pick Pocket worked closely with major names on this project with Chris Teti of The World is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die acting as producer and engineer and Alan Douches (Sufjan Stevens, Cloud Nothings, Galaxie 500) adding the final touches when mastering.
When discussing the inspiration behind the release, the band stated: "The song started as a study in nostalgia. Thinking about fishing with my grandfather in Puerto Rico. From there it just got away from me and turned its attention to how we grow up after we've "grown up" and how letting go of the past is integral to that process."
Pick Pocket will be playing their upcoming release live at the DIY Festival in Salt Lake City.
Pick Pocket will be self-releasing 'It Started' August 30th with the full EP released
September 13th.
Conceived at a music store, Pick Pocket was built with the aim to bring people together while satisfying the songwriter's longing for creativity and growth. Originally just Arcadio Rodriguez on guitar/vox and Scott
Stevens on bass, the duo decided it was time to add someone else who agreed on the importance of community and music's role in it and soon joined
Aaron Merry on drums, who added a level of diligence and eccentricity that paired well with the duo's whimsical approach to songwriting.
