NEW YORK (Virgin Records) - With the completion of their much-anticipated second album, "A BEAUTIFUL LIE," Virgin Records band 30 Seconds to Mars is launching a late-spring tour. Initially confirmed dates cover the country coast-to-coast and run in the weeks between mid-May and late June, ending in Los Angeles. "We are all incredibly excited to get back on the road and share what we have been creating over the past few years," lead singer and guitarist Jared Leto says.

30 Seconds to Mars' imaginative blend of alternative and prog-rock has left entire crowds of concert-goers gob-smacked and altered, ever since the band's opening spot with Incubus, at the release of their self-titled first album in 2002, and their nationwide spot on the 2003 Lollapalooza tour. "We are fortunate to have played in front of so many people during the course of the last CD," Leto says. "To have such dedicated people coming out to share the experience night after night with us was inspiring."

Leto describes the mutual closeness of the group and its following: "The people that are passionate about 30 Seconds to Mars are very committed about their connection to the band, and their participation as well. It's hard to explain, but when we are on the road, our fans don't feel like fans at all. They are our family."

"A BEAUTIFUL LIE" is the product of an intense nine-month in-studio creative tear, and - not coincidentally at all - an equally intense two-year, four-continent period of unsparing self-examination, according to the group (Jared Leto on vocals and guitar, Shannon Leto on drums, Matt Wachter on bass, and Tomo Milicevic on guitar). The first single for the album will be the thunderously melodic "ATTACK," hitting alternative and rock radio this spring.
Produced by acclaimed Velvet Revolver and Linkin Park producer, and Virgin Records Vice President, A&R, Josh Abraham, "A BEAUTIFUL LIE" is scheduled for an August 16, 2005, release. The album was written over two years and recorded in New York, Los Angeles and South Africa.
