New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Talia Stewart hits us with her beautifully complex, dark pop project Confessional. It's the answer and perfect follow up to her last project, Vices and Virtues. Confessional elaborates on and dives deeper into the themes Talia has always explored in a darker, more intense and more honest style than she's ever released.
Like its predecessor, Confessional is a concept piece. The tracks are all cousins of each other sharing themes, metaphors, allusions, and production styles. The title of the project comes from its vulnerability and confessional tone, but also because it keeps with the gothic, Catholicism-influenced branding that is so characteristic of much of Talia's art. The project is arranged in chronological order, beginning with love, then diving into loss, and ending in resilience.
When asked what her favorite part of the project is Talia states, "I love how intensely personal it is and how it communicates the that I'm not afraid to get dark in order to see the light." She goes onto explain, "My hope is that people find themselves in this record. It was born out of a dark space, and it brought me out of a dark space. Everything I've laid out in this record is something I've needed to hear. I hope it offers healing to those who need it."
Well there you have it, Confessional from Talia Stewart is out in the world in all its incredible complexity. If you're looking to go a little darker, get a bit more emotional, and do a whole lot of dancing, this record is definitely for you!
