Comments the band:
"On the occasion of the show in Santa Ninfa, the 1st of November, we will also visit the monument of Calatafimi that inspired our song 'The 1000'. See you on the tour, we're waiting for you in Battle m/"

Just recently, SCALA MERCALLI released, on the anniversary of the end of the expedition of the thousand, their new video for "The 1000" (Calatafimi Battle), taken from the album "Independence", released for Alpha Omega Records on January 25th 2019. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/i0JJKCUydMQ

The song is dedicated to the first and most difficult battle that took place on May the 15th 1860, which started the whole expedition, with the purpose of liberating the south of the peninsula from the Bourbon/Austrian oppression. Here 1089 Garibaldi volunteers, together with about 300 Sicilian insurgents, defeated for the first time the Bourbon/Austrian army formed by about 2000 better equipped soldiers.

"Independence" tracklist:
1. The Crossing on the Sea (from Quarto to Marsala)
2. The 1000 (Calatafimi Battle)
3. Honest Brigands
4. Be Strong
5. The Last Defence (Roma-Gianicolo 1849)
6. Never Surrender
7. Tolentino 1815
8. White Death
9. Whisper of the Night

"Be Strong": https://youtu.be/AiT5_nSCXSc

"Independence" album is about the first part of Italian Risorgimento, from Naple's Reign ruled by King Murat until Mazzini's Roman Republic, including episodes on Mille (The Expedition of the Thousand) and Brigandage, with some of their main characters. The band will wear the new uniform inspired by the units, from north to south, that in the above-mentioned period fought side by side with the people and contributed with hard sacrifices to build Italian nation.

The band about "Independence":
"This project is about some events we consider of great importance in our country's history, because they remind us of how important it has been, for a people dominated for years by foreign powers, to fight for ideals of unity and freedom, and reminds also that freedom, in every form, is never a gift but has always to be conquered fighting togheter. Yesterday as today!"

This example applies to every people or nation that wants to be truly free!
